Step-by-step guide for Sugar and Spice

  • Step 1: Carefully mix a small amount of Powder Bleach and Cream Peroxide into the black plastic mixing tray for skin sensitivity test and hair strand test. Use the tinting brush supplied to mix them into a creamy paste

  • Step 2: Read the instruction leaflet carefully.

  • Step 3: Do a skin patch test 24-48 hours before you highlight your hair.

  • Step 4: Do a hair strand test and take note of your required development time.

  • Step 5: Brush your clean, dry hair away from your face and put the Highlighting Hat on from the front - tie straps under your chin.

  • Step 6: Hook hair through holes of the Highlighting Hat using the hook included in the kit.  See the tips on the right for achieving different looks.

  • Step 7: Empty the rest of Powder Bleach and Cream Peroxide into the mixing tray, and mix into a creamy paste.  Starting at your front hairline apply lightening mixture evenly to the hair strands that have been pulled through the Highlighting hat.

  • Step 8: Put on the Development cap and leave on for your recorded time.  Check regularly, until desired degree of lightening is achieved.

  • Step 9: .Remove the development cap (but leave the Highlighting hat in place)(when you hair reaches your desired colour and rinse hair thoroughly with warm water. Remove the highlighting hat and shampoo your hair with Jerome Russell Conditioning Shampoo.

Highlighting tips: Ensure the hair is always fully pulled through the hole in the Highlighting Hat. The amount of the hair pulled through the Highlighting Hat determines how wide your finished highlights will look.

For thicker highlights pull more hair through
For finer highlights hook a smaller amount of hair
For a subtle look hook hair through every other hole
For a blonder look hook hair through every hole
